She attended Officer Candidate School in 1990\, and after completing one last t our afloat pursued a surface operations career path with assignments at Gro up San Francisco\, CA\, Station Cape May\, NJ\, Group Grand Haven\, MI\, an d Sector Milwaukee\, WI. She also served as a platoon officer and instruct or at Officer Candidate School in Yorktown\, VA\, and as an Assignment Offi cer at the Coast Guard Personnel Command\, Washington\, DC. \nUpon retirem ent in 2010 from Sector Lake Michigan\, CDR Riley focused on the busy lives of her three teenage children while planning to move back to Grand Haven a s soon as they were all out on their own. She moved back to Grand Haven in 2018 and became involved with the festival as a board member. In November 2023 she began her new position as Executive Director of the Grand Haven C oast Guard Festival\n
